Latrine Project for Life

HERE IS THE THEME FOR OUR WORK “LATRINE FOR LIFE

WITH THE POOR FOR THE POOR”

ABOUT CAMBODIA

Cambodia is the country in Southeast Asia that borders Thailand to the west and northwest, Laos to the northeast, Vietnam to the east, and the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest, the geography of Cambodia is dominated by the Mekong River (Tonle Mekong) and Tonle Sap Lake.

Cambodia has an area of 181,035 square km and lies entirely within the tropics, between latitudes 10o and 15oN, and longitudes 102o and 108oE. It has a 443 km coastline along the Gulf of Thailand.

Cambodia’s climate, like that of the rest of Southeast Asia is dominated by monsoons, which are known as tropical wet and dry because of the distinctly marked seasonal differences.

Cambodia has a temperature range from 21 to 35 oC (69.8 to 95 oF) and experiences tropical monsoons. Southwest monsoons blow inland bringing moisture-laden winds from the Gulf of Thailand and Indian Ocean from May to October. The northeast monsoon ushers in the dry season, which lasts from November to March. The country experiences the heaviest precipitation from September to October with the driest period occurring from January to February.

In the community has many families who do not have toilet to use as restroom.   Latrine for life and The Solidarity Fund for Rural Development are selecting the families in this remote areas of rural families.  We are working with the rural families, with the poor and unprivileged families who do not have the fund to support their needs to build the latrine.

Our program is supporting in rural location of Cambodia, we see there are so many families who do not have latrine or toilet (WC) to use as the restrooms in their family. When Mr. Lund Niels had been visited in Cambodia four (4) years ago, he saw and he would like to see these families should have the Latrine for Life for sanitation program, he is helping and found donors from Rotary Clubs and individual donors to support our work program. With the great support, Terry Meinzer Family Donor Fund    Rocklin, California Trace Skeen/Cambodia Charitable Projects     North Logan, Utah  and Cache Valley Morning Rotary Club     Logan, Utah   , we can relief their heavy burden. Finally, our program is bringing the hope to the poor families in rural areas in Cambodia. We have selected 4 families who are desperate need with our assistant to construct the latrine projects in May 2017. Their names are as follows:

They are getting the Tippy-Tap for the children as well, we taught them how to use Tippy Tap and they are learning how to wash their hand after they used in restroom to ensure no dirty hand in the hands. They said to thank to you ALL for your generosity and kindness to build this latrine for them. Our family is living in the rural area cannot afford this without your donation, your fund is making a great big change in my family.
